Mrs. Wilson was honored March 25 as one of the Most Influential African Americans

Women in metro Detroit by Women's Informal Network (WIN). Wilson was honored at the group's 25th anniversary Women's History Month luncheon at the Doubletree Suites-Fort Shelby in Detroit. WIN has honored 14 successful African American women who are empowering the African American woman throughout Metro Detroit.

Women's Informal Network, founded by Patricia Cole in 1992, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower African American women in Metro Detroit. For 25 years, WIN has been closing the economic and education gap and has been striving and succeeding in the growth and development of African American women.

WIN has been able to support many organizations throughout Metro Detroit that value empowering women. WIN has honored influential African American women in the community who every day are making a change and positively impacting our community.

Mrs. Wilson was recognized for the achievements she has made in the Metro Detroit community. As Wayne State University's First Lady, she founded the HIGH (Helping Individuals Go Higher) Program in 2013. The Mission of HIGH is to ensure that no student abandons their dream of earning a degree at WSU solely because of housing or other financial challenges. The HIGH Program has aided over 100 students, at all academic levels.

Mrs. Wilson currently serves on the board of directors for the Covenant House, which shelters homeless youth throughout Metro Detroit and is also a member of the City of Detroit homelessness task force committee.
