La Pita Fresh puts a fresh spin on supporting needy WSU students

One of the best places in Michigan to get great authentic Mediterranean, Middle-Eastern cuisine, is at La Pita Fresh in Detroit. La Pita Fresh is known for their mouthwatering chicken shawarma, healthy meal choices, and quick, convenient service. Whether you choose to dine-in for lunch, carryout for dinner, or cater a family or business party, La Pita Fresh specializes in customer satisfaction and is sure to keep you coming back again… and again.

With one of their two locations located on Wayne State University's main campus, La Pita Fresh donated gift cards to the WSU Helping Individuals Go Higher (HIGH) Program to benefit underprivileged, needy students, working hard each day toward achieving their degree. Thanks to La Pita Fresh, these students can receive a delicious hot meal, knowing the local Detroit community stands behind them, believes in them, and wants to see them excel.

Implemented in 2013 by First Lady, Jacqueline Wilson, the Wayne State University HIGH Program aims at identifying the local needs of Detroit-bound, often homeless, students pursuing undergraduate and graduate programs at Wayne State. In order to meet these needs, the HIGH Program looks to involve the Detroit community, like La Pita Fresh, in an effort to essentially help students overcome the odds beset against them.

If you or someone you know would like to become an instrumental part of the WSU HIGH Program's ongoing mission by donating time, goods, services, or gift cards, contact the Helping Individuals Go Higher staff at (313) 577-9933 or email wsuhighprogram@wayne.edu.
