First Lady Jacqueline Wilson Brings Remarks During the Congressional Black Caucus Visit

Recently, Wayne State University's First Lady Jacqueline Wilson brought remarks during the Congressional Black Caucus visit to Detroit. Wayne State University hosted the event inside the McGregor Memorial Conference Center, 495 Gilmour Mall.

The Congressional Black Caucus visit included a roundtable discussion with community leaders, luncheon, media availability, and a town hall meeting.

Special guests included Congresswoman Karen Bass, the CBC chair, as well as other members of the Caucus, which was formed in 1971.

Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence hosted the event. Lawrence represents Michigan's 14th Congressional District, which includes the Oakland County communities of Southfield, Farmington Hills, West Bloomfield Township, Keego Harbor, and Pontiac among others. It also includes portions of Detroit and communities in eastern Wayne County.

In 2001, Lawrence was elected and served as mayor of Southfield. She was first elected to Congress in November 2014.

First Lady Wilson, was honored to bring remarks to the group, stating, "We are stronger together", which highlighted the significance of the day's events.
