Cathy Lassiter
Cathy Lassiter is an active community volunteer. She retired from a 15+ year career in psychology, with most of her time spent as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology with the Dallas Independent School District. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spelman College (Atlanta, Georgia) and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Texas Southern University (Houston, Texas).
As a person who is committed to giving back to her community, she lends her talents and time to advance the mission of several organizations. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated. In the Greater Wayne County Chapter of the Links, she currently serves as co-chair of the International Trends Facet, is a member on the Executive Committee, a member of the Nominating and Social Committees, and works on the Fundraising committee. In addition, she serves on the Steering Committee for the DSO Classical Roots event. Recently, she joined the Board and their Campaign Readiness Committee (that will fold into the Capital Campaign Committee) of Detroit Horsepower. Furthermore, she has worked with several organizations in in various positions to advance their vision/ mission as well as fundraising endeavors such as Women of Tomorrow (Detroit), the Charles Wright African American Museum (Detroit, Michigan), St. Paul's Episcopal School (Oakland, California), Bishop O'Dowd High School (Oakland), and the American Cancer Society (Oakland).
Her newest venture is CEO and co-founder, with her husband, of Lassiter Family Vineyards producing wine in a small vineyard in Argentina through The Vines of Mendoza, as well as other winemaking opportunities in Italy, Germany, and Spain.
Cathy and her husband, Wright Lassiter, III, relocated to the Metro Detroit area from Oakland, California in 2015; they have one child.
