Wayne State University’s HIGH Program — which stands for “Helping Individuals Go Higher” — is a yearround
effort that depends on volunteers and donor support. Established in 2013 by Jacqueline Wilson, Wayne
State’s first lady, the HIGH Program was developed to ensure that no student abandons their dream of earning a
degree solely because of housing or financial challenges.
Designed to assist students in crisis who have exhausted all other funding options and for whom
homelessness is imminent without intervention, the HIGH Program provides short-term bridge funding to enable a
student in crisis to get back on track, focusing on filling a gap. Since the program’s founding, generous contributions
have helped more than 200 students reach their dreams of graduation.
“We are thrilled that the Detroit Pistons have partnered with us in our effort to fulfill the HIGH Program’s
mission of helping students in need,” said Wilson. “Through their discounted ticket program, Wayne State students
experiencing financial distress will have an opportunity to move toward a rewarding future.”
