It is a common misconception that if someone has the means to go to college, they have the means to obtain basic necessities. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. There are Wayne State students who have to choose between paying tuition bills and paying for their basic needs like food and a living space.

Raising awareness of homelessness by sleeping out
Wayne State University First Lady Jacqueline Wilson talked about the need for greater awareness about homelessness in Detroit. "Sleep Out: Executive Edition," organized by Covenant House Michigan (CHM), is being held on Thursday evening to raise funds and awareness of the homeless problem. The event includes executives from over 40 companies sleeping in cardboard boxes with a sleeping bag on the grounds of CHM. On any given night Detroit has at least 5,000 homeless people spending the night on the streets.
